Anticipation builds...

Anticipation build....got a text today begging for updated pictures...ha...holding off for another day. The upstairs is sanded down needs to be final vacuumed and primed. One problem...our big 16 gal vac died... fortunately Home Depot said we can bring it back...purchased it in December.
Tomorrow Christy gets to have fun upstairs while I do some more mudding downstairs as well as assess the situation with the kitchen floor as to how off it is.
Pictures to come...even of our dead Rigid 16 gal vac.

Progress continues

So, the hall bathroom is painted and lights are hung, Jaces room is painted and ceiling fan is up. I replaced the laundry room floor and started to patch the walls and put on some drywall mud. The basement is DRY! All of the rain we have had lately and no water! This is great. I added a dehumidifier and now store some of the wood there and have built a workbench and begun to set up shop for when we start making cabinets and shelves.

This week Christy will be off! We are looking to knock out all drywall work. We have a few places needing some mud and a lot that need sanded (hate sanding...lol). Then we prime all of it. My personal dream is to get the bathroom, laundry and kitchen flooring as well...so I can hit the cabinets and counter top. And for Christy to get to start stripping the tub and old wall display that was originally in the living room.

Room 1 primed

Today, Christy and her mom primed the living and reading room. I did help with the ceiling...lol. We also moved all of the "stuff' out. The only things left are the drywall pieces for Jonathan's closet (to be finished).

I also started working on turning the basement into a workshop as we will be building many cabinets, shelve, and others...
Christy also sanded some upstairs and Barbara wiped down Jace's walls. We are ready to prime Jace's room and the front upstairs room tomorrow.
Christy is now sitting around moaning from rolling paint and sanding drywall...the time away from working on the house last week is taking its toll...good thing for Ranger candy...Motrin!

Prep and paint on the outside

So the painter, John, is hard at work preparing the surface and testing the paint. We are learning what will look good and what won't as we go. Below is a picture of where he is working.
You can see the old paint he has scraped, the windows, and the soffitt.
The soffitt will actually be a very dark color. This will help hid the gaps between the wood. This will also let the trim color pop.

The claw!!!!

Woody's Tree Service took care of our tree!
These guys don't play around. They brought the boom and the "Claw" to deal with our big tree problem. In about four hours they were done!

Mud, mud, mud

Jace's closet is drywalled in and on its way to being finished (mud wise...lol). Hopefully, we will sand and prime his closet and room as well as the spare room (office), and possibly Jon's room. From there we will knock out the landing and game area...then stairs...
The first floor is now insulated as well. I finished the master bedroom's wall that needed insulated yesterday. All that is left is blowing in a bit in attic areas. The insulation has made a huge difference on noise and temperature. Can't wait to turn the new heating and cooling on to see the difference (waiting on finishing all the drywall sanding before we crank them up).
Christy helped clean out some of the rooms the other day. This made a huge difference.
Things are coming along nicely. I believe we have the wood to wrap the beam and post at the stairs...as well as several shelves and some of the cabinets we will construct. We replaced the flooring in the open area (game area). The wood was red oak. This will be great...just need to come up with a planer to resurface the wood.

God is good!

Friday I was eating an early lunch when I hear a noise...something like a door being slammed inside the house. After doing some checking there were no signs of any change so I continued with the day's activities. An hour later I went out and discovered what the noise had been.

This tree is huge and took out couple other in its way. The miracle was in th fact that this tree was actualy leaning toward the house before it fell.
