No new updates until February

Well the electricians are hard at work and about ready for their rough-in inspection and getting temporary service connected. Then comes the plumbing and heating and cooling. It will be great when all of these are done. Then we start closing it all in with drywall. This will create the dramatic change. It is then we will see the light at the end of the tunnel...lol. So, drywall, trim, and refinishing 90% of the floors. We will only be putting new floors in a few areas: the boys' open/game area, the bathrooms, laundry room, enclosed back porch (forgot to mention closing this in), and the Kitchen. We are looking at actually refinishing the original floor in the livingroom as well. It now resides below a cheap pine (soft) floor. We are excited about this. It will have a hammered feel when we refinish it giving it a distinct personality.

Looking worse to get better...hmmm

Ok so in order to make things better...we make them look worse...
can you say...clean canvas... with the new layout of the kitchen I had to pull the old chopped up sheetrock job..so went ahead and removed the wood as well. This way I can insulate this wall while I am at it and the electricians can run the plugs for this wall as well. Praise the Lord we are nearly done with any removal...tired of tearing off and cleaning up...lol.
Time to start repairing sheetrock, and installing new sheetrock once the electric is in.

Wide open spaces...

This evening Christy's mom, Christy, and me looked at the details of teh kitchen to figure out how to put it together. Then I finished installing the beam beside the stairs. This was a load bearing wall so I constructed a 2x12 beam. Fun process to do...wouldn't recommend it for the faint at hearts. Here are pictures from beginning to now.
Now to clean up the mess I just made and get ready to start patching holes, redoing drywall joints and all, and hang some sheetrock! Electricians should be in later this week. Should start coming together.
