Sad day...

Several months ago Jace got a little carried away with his box of Yoohoo. He was running around the room with it...while squeezing it. As Murphy would have it some went down the screen of the TV...and out it went. Ended up paying sears $200 to come and scrub the terminal...with the guy using my alcohol wipes. He was amazed it worked and said he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't do it again...well today it did...now the TV is dead...what a day...

Ready for carpet

Saturday and Sunday nights were late ones. We blew insulation until 12 a.m. on Sunday morning. This was an everyone involved event...lol. Jace was my messenger, Jon helped keep Christy fed with bags, and she fed the blower...lol...little did we know how messy that part was..
.

Sunday was another long day. Christy and the boys were here until after 10:00 p.m. She stained the trim, window, and door frames...as well as the beam for the stairs.I stayed here until 2:30 a.m. to wipe the stain off the walls, cleared the living room, moved tools downstairs, cleaned off the rail, pulled nails from the floor, scraped drywall mud, put the cabinet drawers back in place, cleared the bedroom, patched the peel and stick floor(a couple pieces missing), touched up paint on the stairs, around the trim (walls and ceiling), vacuumed the stairs, living room, master bedroom, cleaned up the porch, and more... The following pictures are of the house ready for carpet.

And now the carpet men are here!!!!

Crunch day...carpet tomorrow

Carpet guys come tomorrow morning. We have done a lot of work this week but no pictures. The house has 90% of its trim down. 95% of windows and doors trimmed Kitchen counter made, Stairs stringer painted, beam stained, living room windows are underway...stained and painted, insulation blown in the attic, and more...
Today, we finish the prep in the living room, vac upstairs, put tools away...in the basement...the living room trim is the biggest challenge. Hopefully we can also get started on the kitchen and laundry room floor as well. It is coming together nicely.

Snags

Small setback on the outside... The painter quit today...3/4 of the first coat any stripping done and only a few windows started. Guess I know what we are doing after the inside is finished.

New base cabinets

So, the main base cabinets have been built. We decided that I would build cabinets with a Craftsman home inspiration. I was able to use oak from the house to create the facing and door frames. The corner cabinet door has yet to be mounted...different hinges. The other two doors hold shelves that pull out for easy access.

We will make concrete counter tops for these. The sink is going to be in the corner.

Update front of house, living room, and upstairs

Below are the sides of the open area at the top of the stairs...once closets...now game areas.

Next is the change in the landing. Christy has been hard at work painting...

The living room...we are debating on painting the trim or clear coating it...The wood is poplar so it has different shades of brown and green.

John has been knocking out the painting. This is the first coat. Check out the window trim on the front porch. This is what all of it should look like. I have to finish replacing the soffitt supports.
